‘Big Time Pitches’: In Focus v. Pocket Theatre

Posted by Lauren Fetter on November 11, 2015 in WUSB In Focus | 36 Views | Leave a response

Pocket Theatre performers Tim Frenzel and Liam Wallace are masters of improv who are able to win over crowds with quick-thinking and sometimes even quirky scenes. But how would they stand against a ticking clock? With that being said the Pocket Theatre crew will verse against “In Focus” hosts Julio and JD in a rousing game of “Big Time Pitches.”

The game is simple: Julio and JD and Tim and Liam will each get a prompt for the basis of a blockbuster hit and have 60 seconds to pitch that movie based on the prompt. The catch is that only one person on the participating team can speak at a time. Our resident “In Focus” music reviewer Justin Cole will be their game master and serve as the referee, as well as the judge, jury and executioner. He will decide who gets to speak during the pitch, switching between people every 10 to 15 seconds or so. When the time is up, players will name the movie. Justin will decide the winner.

Special thanks to Julio Avila, a.k.a. the deep voice you hear, but don’t see, echoing through the Union basement, WUSB Music Director Mike Gusev, our eager new engineer Dave Donovan, JD Allen for production, our Executive Producer Lauren Fetter, music man Justin Cole and our guests: thespian talents Liam Wallace and Tim Frenzel.
