Although WUSB is located on Stony Brook’s campus they only get a minimal amount of funding through the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and Student Activity fees. This leaves a wide gap for funds. This is where WUSB’s semi-annual Radiothon comes into play.
“It’s basically a fund drive to get us more money,” said senior Anthony Dobrini, a WUSB member. “Most of the money we operate with is from listener donations.”
The Radiothon runs for a month each time, once in the Fall and Spring semesters. The way it works is that listeners can call up and donate to the station, and depending on how much they donate they receive premiums. These range from cups, shirts, sweatshirts and more.
Every year this is a huge success, and really helps keep the radio station running. If you are interested in learning more about this, or even donating outside of the Radiothon time the number to call is:
