The Lost Vikings

Three kidnapped vikings have to fight aliens, dodge lasers and find their way off a spaceship. It's not exactly your normal Norse experience, but it's the plot of this amazing '90s game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

George Washington

Special Collections and University Archives at Stony Brook University recently acquired a letter written by George Washington to his Setauket-based spy ring during the Revolutionary War. Kristen Nyitray, head of Special Collections, placed the winning bid of $48,000 for the letter.

Shakespeare's First Folio

A very rare complete copy of the First Folio of Shakespeare's plays sold for $5.2 million at a Sotheby's auction this past Thursday by a private London library. Well-known London dealer Simon Finch Rare Books purchased the book, which stands as one of about 40 complete copies known to exist. Its value was estimated at between $4.6 million and 6.4 million.



When the Rolling Stones proposed the idea for a free concert at Altamont Speedway to the officials of San Francisco, CA, nobody could have forseen the debacle it would turn into. What began as a generous thought to harbor peace and love in the wake of the successful Woodstock Festival a few months prior became one of the biggest nightmares in rock and roll history. With the local chapter of the Hell's Angels taking over security measures and violence unanimously ensuing, the day quickly changed from peace and love to frenzy panic. The culmination of these negative elements came with the fatal stabbing of Meredith Hunter, an eighteen year old fan.
