Coming off a tough road loss at Johns Hopkins on March 3, the Stony Brook Seawolves (2-4) entered a rainy and windy LaValle Stadium today eager for a win against the Massachusetts Minutewomen (3-5). Stony Brook jumped out quick with two goals early in the first period to set the tone for their 12-6 win. Melissa Cook led the Seawolves in scoring with three goals.

The Seawolves fought hard, but fell to the Boston University Terriers in the semifinals of the America East tournament, 70-63. The conference's player of the year, Stony Brook's Muhammad El-Amin, scored 20 points to lead the team, but he also had eight turnovers.

The Seawolves get 19 points from Kirsten Jeter, and 11 from Misha Horsey, but it s not enough to take down the top-seeded Hartford Hawks, who advanced to the finals where they will meet the No. 2 Vermont Catamounts.

RIGHT NOW: Stony Brook is down against Boston 61-60 with 2:35 left in the game. First up, the No. 1 Stony Brook Seawolves look to move on to the championship, but the No. 4 Boston University Terriers have other ideas. After these two, the No. 2 Vermont Catamounts will take on the No. 6 New Hampshire Wildcats.

RIGHT NOW: No. 1 Hartford defeats No. 4 Stony Brook by a score of 65-43. Vermont defeated Boston University earlier in the day, 69-52.

The Towson Tigers (0-2) came to LaValle Stadium for the first meeting with Stony Brook (2-1) in school history. Coming fresh off a loss to second-ranked Virginia, the Seawovles were keen to get back on a winning track.

Stony Brook's semifinal opponent Hartford boasts two of the league's best players in Diana Delva and Erica Beverly. The Seawolves will face a big test when the teams step on the court.

The top-seeded Stony Brook Seawolves face the Boston University Terriers tomorrow at 5 P.M. in the semifinals. The Terriers are coming off of an 87-46 thrashing of the Hartford Hawks.

Sophomore Tommy Brenton's (pictured) 13 points and 16 rebounds led the way for top-seeded Stony Brook, who advanced past Albany in the quarterfinal round of the America East tournament, 68-59.

The quarterfinal round on the men's side is over, with No. 1 Stony Brook, No. 2 Vermont, No. 4 Boston University and No. 6 New Hampshire advancing.

The Seawolves were led by Misha Horsey, who tallied 20 points and three assists. Kirsten Jeter, foul-plagued for much of the game, chipped in 15 points in the team's 71-60 victory. Stony Brook will next play on Sunday against the hometown Hartford Hawks, the No. 1 seed in the tournament.

Muhammad El-Amin was named the America East Player of the Year; Head Coach Steve Pikiell was named Coach of the Year; Andrew Goba was named to the all-academic team; and, Tommy Brenton and Bryan Dougher were named to the conference’s second team.
