Morpheus Adds Torrent Functionality
|
By George Agathos
Photo & Technology Editor Streamcast Networks, makers of the popular Morpheus file-sharing program, recently released version 4.7, bridging the gap between two major classes of p2p technology. The most important change in version 4.7 is that BitTorrent functionality has been added. BitTorrent is an open-source file-sharing concept that relies on people sharing the files they have over a network based on a common "pointer' file. Until now, however, it has been mostly isolated from the more traditional peer-to-peer networks like Fast Track (Kazaa) and Gnutella (Lime Wire) which share files more directly. For those who use both technologies, the integration of the two can potentially reduce everything into one program. With this in mind, feel free to try the new program. Just watch out for spyware, and, more importantly, don't get sued by the RIAA.. |
