Sale or No Sale: Winter Goodies

I’ve been having a pretty mellow and relaxing break. Here’s what I’ve seen and loved from the day-before-Christmas shopping frenzies to the post-Christmas sales.

I am currently in love (and pretty much obsessed) with Frye’s Veronica Slouch boots in black leather. A wonderful pair of boots that is perfect for the casual lunch date or just for heading to class. Pair it with skinny jeans or black leggings to create a sleek or edgy look.

Madewell, located at the corner of Broome Street and Broadway, is having a sale! Wonderful clothes for those who love the urban prep look. It’s the sister store of J. Crew, so it does have the resemblance of that classic style. The sale started before Christmas and t-shirts and tanks were priced as low as $4.99. I bought a gray zippered top. I loved pairing it with my American Apparel black skinny jeans. Comfortable in all ways possible!

Scoop NYC is having a marvelous sale as well - 40% off already-marked sale items. I saw an amazing Chloe white wool circular scarf. It’s huge, but extremely comfortable for those bitingly cold days. The bonus: it’s on sale…and it’s made in Italy. I love Chloe. Another item I loved was the Abaco small python bag - it’s an absolute stunner.

I was reading an article on how to care for your face. Dermatologists, beauty editors and bloggers stress the importance of using products that protect you from the sun. Peter Thomas Roth makes an ingenious product - a mineral powder with an SPF of 30. Reviewers say the applicator was designed poorly, but I have to try it! I don’t use foundation or any bronzer at all (because I feel like my face is clogged), so I prefer colorless powder. There are a bunch of mineral powders with a high SPF, but they also act as a bronzer or foundation.

I bought YSL’s top-secret pore refiner, but returned it because I was unsure of how great of an investment it would be. Priced at $52, it is supposed to work wonders with hazelnut extracts and salicylic acid to tighten pores and smooth skin. Looks like I have some research to do! After returning the YSL product, I bought Sephora’s OPI Run With It nail color. It’s something different from the usual red or black polish.
