SBU Women Blow Out New Hampshire on Senior Day

By Michael Kelly

The Stony Brook University’s women’s basketball team never trailed and never was challenged against the New Hampshire Wildcats, winning 77-37 on Senior Day. The victory improved their record to 7-22 overall, 2-14 in league play.

It was a big day for the Seawolves seniors—Cheri Davis, Dana Ferraro, Morgan Patrick and Aly Young—combining to score the first 18 points for SBU, tallying 30 in all for the game. Davis finished the game with six points, Ferraro with seven points, Patrick with four points and Young led the seniors with 13 points.

After losing the opening tip and giving up an easy layup, the Seawolves went on a 23-2 run that they never looked back from. The run featured balanced scoring from the four seniors and a man-to-man full court press that never allowed the Wildcats to get into any rhythm offensively. The Seawolves would finish the half leading 41-28, and were never seriously challenged in the second half.

Jill McDonald and Amy Simpson led the Wildcats with eight points apiece. Jodie Plikus scored 13 points to lead the Seawolves, along with Young.
