Here we go again, the note speaks for itself. Stay tuned for details.

This comes after a similar mugging on Oct. 30.

Also, the area near Kelly has seen thefts and vandalism this semester.

Stony Brook has received media attention recently for these and other incidents on campus.

To All Faculty, Staff and Students:

As part of a nationwide effort by all college and universities to keep their campuses informed about matters of safety, we are notifying you that University Police have received a complaint from a male commuter student that on November 14, 2007 between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and midnight, at a lighted pathway between Kelly Quad and Kelly Parking Lot, he was approached by two unknown males who removed his property by the threat of force. The victim was not injured.

University Police along with the Suffolk County Police Department are conducting an investigation and patrols have been increased across campus. Both suspects are described as male, mid 20's, 190-200 lbs. wearing jeans and dark hooded sweatshirts. Anyone who may have information relevant to this report, or who observes suspicious behavior, is encouraged to contact University Police by dialing 911.
We also encourage all members of our community with information to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or on campus dial 2-TIPS.

The safety and welfare of the campus community continues to be our paramount concern. While crime on our campus has continued to decrease, we strongly encourage everyone to exercise caution on a daily basis, including the locking of doors to residence hall rooms. For your safety, and that of others, do not prop open external doors to residence halls and do not assist anyone without a swipe card in gaining admittance to a residence hall.
