A Message From USG
|
Submitted by Jonathan Hirst To all Undergraduate Students, There has been a great deal of controversy surrounding last week’s election results and the subsequent court case. It has come to the attention of USG that many students were told that the USG is seeking to overturn the election in order to put the failed constitution back on the ballot. This is not true. The USG was not the petitioner in this case. A Student has filed a brief due to the inaccurate timeline for the elections. According to published timelines, the election was due to end at 3pm on Friday, October 26th. The election, in fact, ended at 12:15pm. The exact cause for the discrepancy is under investigation by the District Advocate. Until such time as her findings are presented, the USG Supreme Court has placed an injunction on the election results ordering no candidates to take office until the investigation is concluded. The order also mandates that President Antonelli is not permitted to appoint anyone because as of October 31st, he has the sole power of appointing vacant seats, according to the constitution. The Supreme Court, after hearing the results of the District Advocates investigation, will convene on Monday, November 5th to deliver a ruling. Until such time, we ask that Students be patient and await the decision of the court. The Undergraduate Student Government |
