Freezing rain
Freezing rain and wind are straining trees and power lines to the breaking point
Information from Stony Brook's website and emergency phone service 632-SNOW has indicated that classes have been canceled for the remainder of the day, beginning at 2 p.m.

The area has been struck by powerful winds, freezing rain and icy conditions.  The storm has toppled trees and power lines all over Suffolk County.
