Kelly Victim Arrested, Robbery May Have Been Inside Job

By George Agathos and Jeff Licitra

Stony Brook police said one of the victims of an armed robbery in Kelly Quad last semester was arrested by county authorities and accused of complicity in the incident.  The robbery was apparently "something that was orchestrated by one of the alleged victims," according to Suzanne Benedetto, commanding detective of the University Police.

Assistant Chief Doug Little said the suspect was arrested on May 15, just a week after the incident occurred.  Police identified the suspect as Maurice Chean, a resident of the room in Dewey College in which the alleged robbery took place.  Chean was charged with robbery, conspiracy, and false reporting of a crime.  He could not be immediately reached for comment.

Original reports and official statements on the incident said that a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia was recovered after the incident, but police could not confirm any involvement of drugs in the incident itself.

The alleged robbery had local news organizations descending on the campus and put it in the local spotlight for several days, but no coverage has been afforded to the developments that ocurred a week later.  Police are still investigating and are seeking more arrests in this case which Little said "turned this campus upside down."

Weird, I think that this case will be very hard to get solved. Police should get busy with this case right away. If they wont do anything than nobody will. Because no one is better than the law. So I suggest that people should pressure a bit the police men so they can do the best at their work.
