Join the Independent

Come be a part of Stony Brook University's award-winning online publication, the Independent, also featured in Google News!. The Independent is looking for writers to cover news, features, the USG, sports and more, copy editors, photographers, cartoonists, columnists and anyone else that wants to contribute.


We also work closely with other campus media groups, including WUSB 90.1 FM, SBU-TV and the Press.

How does one join? Simple. You can contact us by e-mail or come down to one of our meetings on Tuesdays at 8:30pm or Thursdays at 4:30pm in Union 072. Start by creating an account.
Finally, keep an eye out for informational fliers which will be posted around campus on occasion!
