Sorry for the delayed blog but I wanted to wait for my grades before I did my final blog to wrap up my time at Stony Brook's Summer Session I in the summer of 2010.

I am happy to report that I got two As (in English and History) and an A- (in Natural Hazards) in my classes for the summer. I must say, I'm pretty proud of these grades. Not only is this the best GPA that I've ever gotten in my collegiate career but it also brought up my core GPA quite a bit and that makes me very happy.

I'm sitting at home, watching "Lockup" (my new obsession) while writing this blog. This kind of relaxation is heavenly and well-deserved.

I'm looking forward to the holiday and then having a shortened week due to the lack of Monday classes. Only one more day of having to wake up really early for the rest of the summer (that is, unless if I go back to my job and have to wake up much earlier but that's another story for another blog).

I apologize for the lateness of this blog but due to fun circumstances (one of my best friends was visiting this weekend) I was unable to write until today.

I'm finding it hard to believe that the semester is already more than halfway over. I have officially taken two science tests, handed in four English assignments and written one history essay. This week is our last full week of classes and I'm elated. However, unfortunately for me, I am being forced to go to class on July 12th just to "close things up." Personally, I think that's a waste of my time but whatever, if it gets me a better grade then so be it.

Week three is officially over which means the semester is halfway over. I've had my first test, handed in my first essay and handed in my first few assignments. The knowledge that I will only have to do this one or two more times in the next three weeks is daunting yet satisfying.

It's only the end of week two and I already feel like I'm in the middle of the semester. In actuality, one week from today and I will be in the middle of the semester. Time is flying really fast and honestly, I'm glad. This semester isn't turning out as well as I'd like it to.

I will be taking over blogging duties for Scott Moore this summer. Unlike my ambitious friend, I am only partaking in the first summer session. However, similar to Scott, I am taking more classes than I probably should this summer. My reasoning for this is to graduate early (much to the chagrin of Executive Editor, Erin McKinley) and to have a less stressful fall semester.

I spent my last four years at Stony Brook, and there is still a whole bunch of things I don’t understand about the place. Here’s my top five things that I still have not figured out and seemingly never will since I am graduating.

The Pacific Rim Championship is an elite gymnastics event held every two years. Six person teams for both women and men’s gymnastics from the countries on the Pacific rim compete in the competition. This year’s competition is taking place from http://www.sbindependent.org/node/4170/editApril 29th through May 2nd at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne Australia. In the women’s competition each team is comprised of three senior and three junior elite competitors. As expected, the national United States National Team Selection Committee has sent their a-team to the competition.

There has been a definite increase in the temperature lately and that can only mean one thing, beach season is almost upon us. While I personally find sand to be annoying, it gets places you don’t necessarily want it and has a weird consistency; the beach is still a great place to go on a summer day for a great time. And for the people who think I am weird for not worshipping sand, I live on the beach so I am deal with it more often then most people, so there.

This time of the year is usually very routine. Spring Break is over and it’s time to buckle up for the bumpy ride that is these next four weeks. Finals and term papers are looming, but I can no longer use Yankees baseball as an escape.

Whether you watched five minutes or five hours, the Mets game on April 17th was a thriller in which the Mets exhibited great promise.

Warm up your instruments and practice your scales because the long wait for the second half of the first season of Glee is here! The hit Fox show took America by storm this fall with their renditions of hit pop and Broadway tunes and their witty story lines. That’s right, the gang is all back. So here are some things I would like to see for the quirky characters on the second half of the season:

Stony Brooklyn, which brings Brooklyn music talent to Stony Brook's University Café, recently hosted "The Antlers." The band played its songs live with the same emotion that is present in the studio versions. The Antlers will play larger gigs soon, so it was cool to catch a performance in such an intimate setting.

A few weeks ago, ten amateur journalists met at the swanky West apartment suite of Michael Kelly and Andy Friedman. Blood was spilled, tears flowed, friendships ended and chips were eaten, but in the end, 10 fantasy teams were formed and a six month journey towards eternal glory began.
