The Binghamton Bearcats held off a late rally by the New Hampshire Wildcats in the Chase Family Arena in Hartford to move on to the semifinals of the America East tournament.

Four Binghamton starters put up double figures in their 67-53 victory, including the leading scorer, Viive Rebane, who dropped 20 points (8-of-12) and pulled down four rebounds. Jasbriell Swain (14 points and nine rebounds), Kara Elofson (12 points and nine rebounds) and Jackie Ward (11 points) helped Rebane maintain the lead for the entire game.

The Bearcats committed seven turnovers (20 overall) in a matter of four minutes, allowing the Wildcats to cut the deficit to six points with two minutes left.

The Wildcats’ poor shooting (30 percent from the field and 4-of-25 from 3) prevented them from coming back in the end. Cari Reed led New Hampshire with 13 points (5-of-12) and four rebounds. Despite 15 offensive rebounds, New Hampshire lost the battle under the boards as well, 42 to 34.

The No. 3 seed Binghamton will face No. 2 seed Boston University Sunday afternoon at 11:04 a.m. for a spot in the finals.
